"Alder"
I
used Alder, a mountain lion cub from the Folsom Zoo as a model for this drawing
and because of that, I named it after her.
I needed to see up close how the hair on the face and body should lay. I was
able to get within about 5 feet from her when I was photographing her. As far as
emotion and character for a drawing, I think this one has it and then some. I
drew this one to represent a young cougar that has just lost her spots.
